I re-installed windows with the help of a friend and my internet is back on but....
My computer is on safe mode and I can't get off of it. We tried to download a new driver but it didn't help.
I can't get my resolution back and I don't know why...big surprise, it's always something.

It's really sad. I've grown up with him and have memories of him and just about childhood, and stuff like that. Kind of puts things in perspective and really makes me appreciate having a pet to be a companion you can talk to and love forever. Even when Smeg dies, I'll be happy in the thought that I know my sister really gave him the best life he could have had and that's a really great. And I know that Smeg is happy to have been a part of our family as well...Love you Smeg <3

conkers, dogs, and a crappy date.

on Friday at work we played a few games of conkers. my colleague is from England and his parents sent him some. it was so fun!
here is the Englishman that made it all happen, and his conker.
and here is a game in progress:
the woman on the right is my closest friend at work. I like a lot of the people I work with, but she is my main squeeze.
here is my sad, broken conker! I lost my first game.
I did, however, score some nice welts while playing! when you throw your conker at someone else's, it comes back up and hits you either in the arm or leg. mine mostly hit in the arm!
on Saturday night I had a little dog party and invited over some friends with dogs the same size as mine. Katie had met Dijon once before, but neither dog had met Leia. it was fun, but loud! Katie is such a social idiot. she barked her head off while the other two played.
here are Leia and Dijon playing:
this picture is cute:
all three dogs wanting a toy from Dawn (look at Dijon's crazy eyes!)
Katie being bossy towards Leia:
and here's a video of the ridiculousness that is my dog:

and backtracking a bit, on Friday I went on a date through that dating site I'm on. the guy was young, only 24, but it seemed like we had lots in common. plus, as it turns out I know his older sister. sadly, though, the boy was extremely awkward. sure ya we had lots in common, but within a few minutes I knew it was going to be a painful evening. we met up at 8 and had a beer. after his first beer he went to the bathroom, and when he came back he sat beside me! oh whoa, sweetie that's way too fast! he then also started putting his arm around me, which was incredibly sweet but I had to tell him I wasn't interested.
he took it hard. he was so cute and sweet! poor guy.
I don't mind that it turned out the way it did. at some point I was gonna have to say I wasn't interested, and he kinda forced it out a bit sooner than if he'd been a bit more relaxed.
ah well. he was very embarrassed, but he really didn't do anything wrong. sure he moved fast (we were already on a date! no need to show me you like me), but if I'd been into him it would have been awesome. the date began at 8, around 9 I was in the bathroom texting friends who were supposed to maybe meet up with us to come sooner and save me, at 9:45 I was telling him I wasn't interested, and by 10:30 I was at a friend's place who was having some people over. (and she had a cute CouchSurfer that totally flirted with me during the goodnight hug, which was awesome and fun. I love harmless flirting! it happens so little.)
yesterday I got a message back from my profile twin, and it was a pretty good message. I replied last night after drinking some wine at the dog party, so my reply was a bit silly. he's read it but not replied yet, which is fine. it usually takes me a few days to formulate a response too. at any rate, he's recommended some books to me so that is good.
today I experienced what felt like literally a wave of loneliness wash over me. then I hauled my butt outside and did the yardwork that needed to get done. and near the end I started crying a little, but not much. it wasn't even a lonely cry, though. I just miss my ex-mother-in-law. I haven't talked to her in exactly three years. we went for lunch once after the breakup, and we emailed each other maybe twice (once was me telling her my dad had cancer) and that was about it. once she sent me an email saying I should call her immediately. but instead I emailed her. such a wimp. but, she never replied. as I was raking I was thinking that I should get in touch. and I realized that since my ex moved to Montreal, maybe I could have a bit of a friendship with her and it wouldn't be as upsetting as when he was here. both of her kids live out east, too, so maybe she's lonely. an extremely painful part of the breakup was dealing with losing the relationship with my dog and my in-laws.
anyway, so that was my weekend. it was mostly pretty good.

On another note...
This past week I finished my first as a technical producer for the Ryan Doyle Show. I am really going to enjoy this job. I forgot what it was like to have a job where I am busy all the time. But every day is busy and every minute is jam packed. (In all honesty I love it). For anyone reading I don't think there is anyone who is reading this that would not enjoy listening to Ryan's show. He is an excellent host, he is young and well researched on his topics. You can listen online at www.newstalk1010.com (7-10 pm EST) (Even Chloe has become a newstalk fan...)
On one final note after watching the Michael Moore movie I have never been so happy to no longer be working at a bank. I am also happy to be part of a news outlet where the hosts have the freedom to express their opinions and get people thinking about what is going on in their world.
Peace out!

But I do now, so here we go! My sister is in the middle of her radiation and chemotherapy right now and her hair is falling out. Like, a lot. And, well, the Tomlins of Hanson descent (that's me and Lisa...) have always had AMAZING hair. Like, we've never really talked about it, but we both have really thick, luxurious, beautiful hair. So the fact that Lisa was losing hers is probably really hard for her. I don't know if you can, but I can see her uneasiness in this video:
When she told me she was going to shave her head, my heart raced a little. I thought, "Oh, shit. This is for real." And I thought about how I could NEVER shave my head. I might have even said a little prayer hoping I never get cancer...
Might schmight. I did say that prayer. I mean, now I'm the only one in my immediate family who hasn't experienced chemotherapy. That's crazy, isn't it? It's really frightening. And the thought of losing my hair - my AMAZINGLY THICK AWESOME HAIR - is really scary.
Are you following me on this? If you know my at all, you know that I'm a big fan of doing things that scare the shit out of me. If someone tells me I can't do something, I WILL DO IT. If I think, even for a moment, that something is too hard for me, I MUST DO IT.
So that's what I had to do. I had to shave my head. If my sister can do it, then for fuck's sake, I'll be DAMNED if I can't do it, too. Why should she be alone in this? It's just hair, right?
So I did it. I shaved my head. I'll be the first to admit that it scared the shit out of me. But it was also really liberating. I won't say that I know exactly what Lisa is going through, but I think this is sort of a way for her to take control. Like, "FUCK YOU, chemo. You're not taking my hair, because I'll fucking take it FIRST."
I've always been my sister's biggest fan. Even when she used to beat me up when I was little, I still admired her beyond belief. She's just one of the most amazing people I've ever met. When she shaved her head, I just had to do it, too. Maybe it's because I want to be like her. I want to prove to the world that I'm just as strong as she is. I also want her to know that she's not alone. I'm here for her in every way. Tomlin Baldies Unite!
Here's my video. I hope one day that I'm as righteous as she is.
I sent a picture of me bald to my Mom and she said, "We need to get the two of you together either with or without your glasses and take a picture. Great pictures of you both." When I talked to her on the phone she said we looked exactly the same. I don't know, what do you think?

I don't know - I still think she got all the looks in the family...

Here is a comic:
And another:
And more character profiles:
Valkyrie - Second in command. She is the main strategist for the group (due to her natural analytical nature). She has a "Valkyrie" power suit which has a built in laser sword and shield, a helmet that acts as a special visor that can assess anything from temperature to missile trajectories, and the suit allows her to fly as well. She is also a skilled hand-to-hand combatant. Despite being the only true human on the team, she can hold her own in battle. She sometimes feels left out of bigger missions and is under-estimated, but has proven herself time and again why she is so reliable. This suit (which was given to her courtesy of the BHA on behalf of Starr International) is just the prototype version of variations of the same suit.
Detective Hardy - He is the lead detective for the Property Theft division and usually handles larger cases such as bank robberies, large industry burglaries, etc. He isn't particularly fond of the heroes at all because he believes that crime control should be left to the police, not by a group of super-humans who can potentially ruin a case (not to mention stealing the Police Department's thunder). He takes his job very seriously, despite his sometimes lackadaisical attitude. He is only human, and fairs decently in hand-to-hand combat (he has no formal training beyond what he has learned in the academy). He is a good shot, but rarely uses his weapon. Despite him being gay, there has been relatively no issues about it - although most people, in actuality, don't feel comfortable bringing it up.
